45th Birthday Party

Hi y'all - I am so excited to share this special birthday with you.  Turning 45, for me, has turned into something that I really did not see coming.  I am feeling a shift of sorts in life and changing priorities around has been the order of the day. We are getting back to the basics here at the Newell Estate.  SIMPLIFYING is our motto! 

In the past I have had some gal pals over and we have partied it up!

This year felt BIG to me and I wanted to share it with the ladies and their fellows!

It was the FIRST time that I used an off site location for a party and it was a challenge for me to "let go" of the control of it all.  I had a local restaurant caterer it and serve. 

I did good!

Theme:  Eat, Drink, Laugh, Repeat

I found these napkins at Target last year and loved the message. This is where it all started!

Color scheme:  Gray, silver and limeish green

Simply grocery store flowers and limes that I hollowed out made up my centerpieces.  The plastic silver trays were from the Dollar Tree. 

I had buckets on the table filled with dried split peas (sticking with the green color scheme) and put in question cards to get people talking. 

Bar set up with full service bartender. 

(nice not to have to "man" the bar)

Some Sweets for the Peeps...help yourself candy and some themed cookies. 

The fun:  Photobooth 

Sing...Sing a song... Karaoke 

The Swag:  Etched stemless wine glasses with the THEME on them... Eat, Drink, Laugh, Repeat

So blessed to have had so many people there that mean a lot to me!  

It was fun and fabulous...

Afterall - 45 is the new 35!

Sharin' the Love - School Valentine Party

 Our children love to celebrate and share their energy with others!

Today was our home school Valentine's Party and we rejoiced in the sunshine and each other!

You can't go wrong with some freeze dancing...Valentine Movie...coloring....photo booth and some good ol' fashion Valentine BINGO game!

Of course a lot of Reds and Golds - it's The Year of the Snake - do you see our snake inside our Chinese Lantern?  The children said he was safe!

Orange slices and cut up carrots were out for the children to snack on immediately.

We also had the Disney movie - MULAN on in the background.

Each child took home a goodie box with a Fortune cookie, chopsticks, red "lucky" envelopes (with some cash inside) and some red wrapped Hershey Kisses.

All delighted in the chocolate dipped fortune cookies - they did not last long!

Chinese New Year - Backdrop

Do you celebrate Chinese New Year in your home?  

We do every year - starting with sweeping away all the dirt from the year before!

We have a celebration in our home school and this year we have invited other homeschoolers to come over and partay with us! 

I had a "free" 15 mins this afternoon and quickly came up with my buffet table backdrop.

I started with 2 pieces of foam core board from the dollar store.

  

Taped them together. 

Then using another roll of dollar store red wrapping paper - covered it on one side completely.  

I found a font on line (go HERE) and printed the letters for HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  Cut those babies out and used 1 gold foil placemat - cutting it up - for the trim. Not wasting anything - I used the remainder of the place mat (middle section) to "fill" in the board on 1 side.  

Trimmed the letters up and glued those on to the board.  

I added a few "Chinese lanterns" that I cut using my silhouette SD machine and there you have it!

Now my backdrop is finished  15 mins are up!
