Moosetache Back to School Bash

Being home educators to our children is an adventure all the time!  We started back to school a little later than most public schools and we are kicking it off with a

Back to (Home) School Moosetache Bash!

My inspiration was this book

Moosetache by: Margie Palatini

It’s a fun book and the party was a blast to create and style!

Keeping with the "school" theme - I used these cute metal lunchboxes that I found on a
great sale at Michael's Craft Store.

Chalkboard paint helped me make these wooden box reusable for any party!  This one was used for the
cute Mustache Gable Boxes from Pamela Smerker Designs.

Sue's Sweet Shoppe was the place to go for the Chocolate Mustache Lollipops that I used
in the Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Peanut Butter frosting!  YUM!

I used my Silhouette Machine for the stashes and moose in my "ever changing" IKEA frames.

Using some of the printable Back to School set I found at Pretty My Party for these cute straw flags
The original source was: Cupcake Wishes.

Oh I am over the moon happy with these Macaroons from Eat Sweet - and they are local to me so picking them up was a breeze!

Each of these cute boxes had a mustache whistle for the children to take home.

One of our families had to cancel at the last minute due to illness, however, we dropped off their goodies to them 8)

Hope everyone gets a chance to read this cute book at some point to their children, grandchildren or a friend!

Until next party - Party On Friends!

2 cups shortening
2 cups sugar
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
(I also add 1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice, but not necessary if dont have it)
2 cups of canned solid pumpkin (not pumpkin puree)

GLAZE

3 tablespoons butter (melted)
4 tablespoons milk
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup confectioners sugar

Oven to 350
cream shortening and sugar
add dry ingredients
then add pumpkin
drop teaspoon size dough onto ungreased cookie sheet
bake 10 - 15 mins (when the peaks start to brown take them out)

DONT MAKE GLAZE UNTIL COMPLETED COOLED
then drizzle over cooled cookies

They freeze well and makes A LOT of cookies

These are by far the best cookies I have found to make!

Tips for creating a Fall Outdoor Display

This time of the year has me scooping out the road side farm stands….looking for mums, chrysanthemums, asters, pumpkins and fun Fall foliage (say that 10 times fast..lol)

I always try to have a few eye appealing/curb appealing displays at the house.  Makes me feel good to come home to a home I love to look at!

A pop of color helps give that porch or walkway some life!

Today I am sharing with you my tips for on how to have an eye appealing Fall display for the outdoors.

1.       Clean out your old containers – switch out the old containers you used for the Summer porch displays.  Give the front porch a makeover!  Making sure these containers are free from “old dirt” and roots from last year.  Hose them out. Baskets are always fun and Fall like.

2.       EYE your space – what space are you using for the display?  Is there a natural backdrop?  What is the color of the house if it’s up against the siding? If you are using big containers, your height and size of the plants can vary a lot.

3.       Find your “style” – are you a traditionalist? Do you have a contemporary or Victorian style home?  The simple “natural” look can be used in almost any type of home.

From Seasons of Joy

4.       Don’t be afraid to mix up the colors! Reds, oranges, greens, purples – all can co-exist together nicely!

5.       Have fun!  Add punch of color with a pumpkin or Indian Corn. Think out of the box. Use a wheel barrow that is all rusted out or different size pots with some burlap wrapped around them.  Don’t over think the arrangement.

I can't wait to start road side stand shopping soon for our Fall Outdoor display!

I hope I have inspired you today -

Have fun with your Fall displays....would love to see some of yours if you want to leave a link in the comments section!

Until next time - Party On!

What's been happening......

I can't believe that it's Mid-September already

All I want to do is go pick out the perfect Mums....pumpkins...decorate for Fall...but I am waiting just a few more weeks....

So much is going on over here in our neck of the woods...last week I had two little "parties"....a Beach party at the Jersey Shore for my children and a Fresh Beat Band Tailgating party for my children and a friend!

they were filming for TV during the concert....I am sure one such party gal hammed it up for the camera at one point standing and singing with her blow up guitar 8)

Hubsters the hot dog man....

Kids had a blast!  It was an afternoon concert and it was outdoors which made it even more fun!

This week (on Friday) is our Back to (home) School Party with a few other homeschooling families...it's going to be a lot of fun!

I am also working on a few other parties......

Before you know it we will be taking our "summer" vacation - only 3 weeks away!  Oh to pack up a party and bring it on a plane...hmmm - this will be a first for me 8)

IF you have a minute - one of my party gal pals, Laura - over at Eye Candy Event Details (the master mind behind Team Eye Candy) is Celebrating her "2nd Birthday" this week - she has a very generous giveaway happening right now!  Hop on over and check it out!

Until next time - Party On Friends!
