Infamous Bacon Cookies and Paleo Diet

***If you have not entered the giveaway yet going on - I encourage you to!  Over $ 100 in swag!***

This week I had the pleasure of hosting a group of moms and their children to celebrate the end of the school year - I called it the One Smart Cookie party.  (I will be sharing this awesome party soon...)

Each mother was asked to bring 1 doz of their favorite cookies to share with everyone.  One of the moms brought delicious Chocolate Chip Cookies - they were good....then she pulled out another cookie from her bag - they resembled Chocolate Chip Cookies - but there was something different about them - BACON!

Here is where she found this delicious recipe:  The Food Lovers Kitchen

You see my friend is following this way of eating called The Paleo Diet. Have you heard of it?  I did not until she educated me on it!  Fascinating really. (not for me as I love my carbs...)

The gist of the diet is this:

The paleolithic-style diet follows the premise that our genetic predisposition to food has not changed for 2 million years. Basically, modern civilization is eating foods that attack and compromise our cave dweller bodies. Proof of the theory lies in the study of the remaining hunter-gatherer civilizations of the world where diseases, ailments and obesity are not plagues. Fossil records showing the onset of infectious diseases provide further evidence.

She shares recipes and tips with you all....

Until next time:  Party on!

Summer Girlie Birthday Party - Guest Feature

I had the pleasure of assisting a gal pal of mine with her daughter's 8th Birthday Party.

The party was perfect for a warm Summer Day!

It all started on her patio with the girls soaking their feet preparing for a pedicure!

While their toes dried - they were able to do a Make and Take beaded jewelry craft.

We then moved inside for some cookie decorating!

Oh the mess FUN they had!

Then outside for some water fun!

Last but not least - the Birthday Wish!

I had a great time as well as my girls!

Three Cheers for Dad - a Cheers Themed Party

When thinking about Father's Day this year, I wanted to really do it up right.  We were camping over the weekend with best friends (and their kids) and the dads deserved something nice!  I planned for about a month before our trip.  My hubby's favorite (all time) TV show is the classic Cheers!  I had to think of a party that I could bring in a small sized box so the hubby would not notice 1 more box with all the camping stuff....So going with browns, oranges and yellows, here is what I came up with (all behind his back no less)

The two Dads (BFF on the left and my hubby on the right)

Found these at Party City on clearance in March!  Knew I would use
them someday!

Made signs and brought some of my useful IKEA frames...

Each dad got one of these glass beer mugs from us.

I did "bar/pub" food - Make Your Own Nacho Bar and Sliders
(A hit with everyone)

I could only bring 1 small sized box to fit all the party stuff so the hubby
would not notice...easy fold up decor and used a clothes
line to hang over the table.

Big hit with all - had my gal pal, Dawn (Dessert by Dawn) make these
awesome cookies!  Hard to keep them hidden until the big celebration!

Did you throw a party for your hubby or dad?  Would love
to hear about it!

Party On!
